September 18, 2007 - Genesis Electronics Manufacturing, Inc. (GEM) announced today the addition of another Medical Device customer to its growing base of electronics manufacturing clients. As an Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) supplier GEM attained its highly regarded ISO: 13485 certification in 2003. Since that time the medical device market has become GEM's fastest growing business segment. "Today medical device customers account for about 28% of our manufacturing business," said Scott Mauldin, president of GEM. "By year end we anticipate our medical customers will make up 30% of our manufacturing revenue, which is in line with our market strategy. While we continue to experience expansion in our other market segments, such as Industrial Controls, Communications Equipment, Aerospace and Security Products, our growth in the medical electronics segment is outpacing those other areas."

March 28, 2007 – Genesis Electronics Manufacturing, Inc. ("GEM"). GEM announced today that it will be showcasing its expanded supply chain solutions at the SMTA conference in Atlanta on April 19th. “The back end of the product life-cycle has long been underserved from a total supply chain perspective”, said Scott Mauldin, President. We added to our manufacturing offering Warranty and Post Warranty Service and received a great response. This naturally led us to ask questions about other service issues our customers face.  Almost unanimously we heard that the greatest hidden cost per unit is on the tail end of the production curve when OEM’s are forced to make last time build and buy decisions. Our goal is to provide flexibility on the back end so that OEM’s can more closely match supply with demand by providing late product life and end of life manufacturing support.

February 28, 2007 – Genesis Electronics Manufacturing, Inc. ("GEM"). GEM awarded 21 employees with 10 year service awards and one 20 year service award. “Good employees are our most valuable asset” said Scott Mauldin, President of GEM. “The knowledge and skill of our workforce really helps set GEM apart as a premier EMS provider. France has a rapidly growing base of medical technology companies. We believe that prevailing economic conditions combined with proximity to market make Tampa Bay a logical place for French medical companies to partner with U.S. medical manufacturing firms such as GEM.”

November 18, 2005 -(Article from Tampa Bay Business Journal 11/18/05 by Jane Meinhardt)   Dick Peck firmly believes manufacturing companies' money should stay where the manufacturers are.  As the owner and CEO of QTM Inc. machining shop in Oldsmar, he is trying to accomplish that by helping to create a manufacturers council through the Upper Tampa Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce.  "We need to start grouping together to expand our own market where we are," Peck said. "We need to re-evaluate our resources, and we need to be united. The council is a step in the right direction because it goes across city and county lines. In manufacturing, we don't recognize lines."  Nearly 160 manufacturers are in the Oldsmar, Northwest Hillsborough County and Town 'n Country areas served by the chamber. "The chamber is very pro-active and aggressive and the type of local organization that can help us pool our resources and build a strong manufacturers alliance," Peck said. Jerry Custin, business development director at the chamber, has started organizing the manufacturers council.  He met with manufacturing representatives at a recent chamber-sponsored open house that focused on locating local partners, upgrading skills, landing defense contracts, training grants and obtaining free technical help from NASA. Sponsors included the Florida Manufacturers Enterprise Partnership, the City of Oldsmar, the Bay Area Manufacturers Association, Hillsborough and Pinellas county economic development, Constellation Technologies and NASA Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program.  "We did this because we wanted to provide business-to-business opportunities and reach into the manufacturing community from an economic development standpoint," Custin said.  The chamber's manufacturers council concept is an offshoot of the open house and will be one of several councils in the organization.  Manufacturers in the chamber's area would meet monthly and form their own council leadership. The council's leader would have a seat on the chamber's board of directors, Custin said.  "They will have the opportunity to define their own needs and programs and take advantage of the chamber's resources," he said. "They would be able to advise the chamber on the needs and programs to drive their businesses forward at the pace and direction of their own leadership."  The council concept includes creating a manufacturers directory to help companies do business with local suppliers and vendors instead of partnering with out-of-state or foreign companies. It would also allow manufacturers to bid as a consortium on lucrative projects.  "That's the kind of synergism we want here," Custin said.

"Additionally, it provides non-medical customers with quantitative, regulatory evidence of GEM’s system capabilities in support of programs requiring higher traceability on products that we produce for them," he commented, "and demonstrates GEM’s commitment to 'Continuous Improvement' of our services in support of our Customers."

February 2, 2004 - GEM moves into former Jabil facility and expands offerings ;  Genesis Electronics Manufacturing, Inc. (GEM) this week transitions its operations to a facility acquired in July from Jabil Global Services. GEM is a medium-volume, high-response electronics manufacturing services provider.   In addition to nearly doubling GEM’s physical space (to 50,000 square feet), the facility expands GEM’s customer service offerings in the areas of equipment repair and service, specifically in the rebuilding of monitors, keyboards and telecommunications equipment. Test, repair, and refurbishment equipment were acquired along with the facility and GEM expanded its team by 15 new hires to cover its new areas of service.  GEM’s expanded offerings have already won the attention of one of the world’s largest information technology manufacturers, which recently contracted GEM to provide monitor repair and refurbishment services. “This manufacturer offers service to every CRT manufacturer and re-marketer in the industry today, and our team knows how to repair virtually every CRT on the market. By growing our team, our physical space, and our equipment, GEM has the ability to fulfill the demands of this service contract and extend like services to existing and new accounts,” said GEM President Robert Stoller. In addition, the expanded offerings bring GEM closer to its goal of providing services similar to those provided by tier-one suppliers. “While our customer base is generally not considered to be the market of the tier-one suppliers, we want to offer our customers the gamut of services they need to market their products, and equipment repair and service is considered the last stage of product life management,” Stoller explained.  Driving GEM’s expansion is its “Consider It Done” philosophy which Stoller defines as, “meeting our commitments, including our commitment to the customer and growing GEM to capacity in order to serve that customer. Making expenditures such as the facility acquisition and personnel additions on the heels of an industry downturn illustrates GEM’s commitment to becoming a larger player on a field where many have pulled up stakes during the recent 18 months. GEM looks forward to providing a domestic option to customers who desire to have their product built in the USA,” he added.
